In HVAC-R systems, compressors consume about 70% of the total energy used by the system. Even with the most modern controls and efficient equipment, Smartcool saves energy.
Smartcool reduces the electricity usage (kWh) and demand (kW) of air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump compressors by improving the performance of their compressors while maintaining temperature and humidity control.
Conventional Control of HVAC-R Equipment:
Temperature naturally varies over the cooling cycle as the load changes and the controls load and unload the system. This creates a control 'band'. At the top of the 'band', the system is working at its maximum efficiency.
As the temperature in the controlled space (the office, the refrigerator, etc.) is cooled, the system's capacity to continue removing heat from the space drops dramatically.
At the bottom of the 'band', the system is using almost twice as much energy and time per degree of cooling.
The ECO3TM is installed between the primary controller and the compressor in a customer's HVAC-R system. Smartcool's technology continuously monitors the compressor cycles to identify opportunities for energy savings. How savings are achieved is dependent on the nature of the customer's equipment.

1 Energy Review

3 Installation
Upon acceptance of the Energy Savings Proposal, the installation will be scheduled. All work will be performed by Smartcool approved contractors or employees according to all applicable codes, regulations, and facility-specific safety and operational requirements. All Smartcool contractors have appropriate worker's compensation and general liability insurance coverage.
